Jenna Chips Is Ready for the Real World
Jenna Chips embarks on a journey guided by a series of recordings left to her by her mother, whom she loved deeply and cared for during the final years of her life before she passed away from cancer.
Following her mother's instructions, Jenna travels to Dublin to visit her Aunt Margaret and cousin Joseph. There, she meets Christopher, who quickly forms a bond with Joseph. Together, the three visit a food market, where her mother's encouraging words inspire Jenna to step outside her comfort zone and try new and unfamiliar flavours.
At the market, Jenna meets John, a photographer for The Times. After taking her photograph, he encourages Jenna to start taking pictures herself and even lends her a camera, convinced that she has a natural eye for photography. But just as a connection begins to form between them, John discovers something about Jenna's past and suddenly disappears from her life without explanation.
Jenna's next "assignment" takes her to Donegal, where her mother has instructed her to take Irish lessons – just as she once did herself when she was young. Through her connections with The Times, Jenna meets Daragh, a young man in need of a photographer who offers to show her around the area in return.
As Jenna continues to follow the recordings, the journey becomes about much more than simply carrying out her mother's final wishes. She begins to uncover parts of her mother's past and learns more about the choices that shaped her life. At the same time, Jenna slowly begins to make choices of her own.
What starts as a journey planned by her mother gradually becomes Jenna's own – a chance to grieve, to discover who she is, and to begin building a life for herself, with her mother's voice and the people she meets along the way gently guiding her forward.
