The Killing of a Sacred Deer (Blu-ray)

Celebrated cardiac surgeon Steven Murphy (Colin Farrell) has developed an unsettling bond with Martin (Barry Keoghan), a fatherless teenage boy. When Martin makes an impossible and monstrous demand — rooted in a debt Steven denies he owes — the consequences for Steven’s family prove inescapable. Yorgos Lanthimos’s formally rigorous, ice-cold thriller draws on Greek tragedy — Euripides’ Iphigenia at Aulis in particular — to deliver a film of mounting, inexorable dread. Winner of Best Screenplay at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
