The Flavor of Green Tea over Rice - The Criterion Collection (Blu-ray)

A bourgeois Tokyo wife (Michiyo Kogure) who finds her quiet, unassuming husband (Shin Saburi) hopelessly dull slowly comes to appreciate — through a series of small crises and gentle confrontations — what she has been taking for granted. Yasujiro Ozu's warm, seemingly simple domestic comedy is in fact a deeply compassionate film about class, compatibility, and the patient revelation of character — presenting marriage not as a drama but as a quiet process of mutual discovery, anchored by a late-night bowl of tea and rice.
