Homicide - The Criterion Collection (DVD)

Detective Bobby Gold (Joe Mantegna) — a veteran homicide cop who has spent his career distancing himself from his Jewish identity — is drawn into investigating the murder of an elderly Jewish shopkeeper, and finds himself torn between the police brotherhood that defines him and a deeper sense of belonging he has long suppressed. David Mamet's most personal film is a taut, psychologically rigorous thriller about loyalty, identity, and the cost of assimilation — anchored by a career-best performance from Mantegna.
