Burton [ak]® Baker Expedition Down 2027 – Insulated Jacket
The Burton [ak]® Baker Expedition Down Jacket is built for snowboarders and backcountry tourers who push deep into the mountains, far from any lodge or warm room. It functions as a packable midlayer, an emergency puffy, or a standalone piece when temperatures drop hard — all in a design trim enough to move with you, not against you.
Construction & FitThe outer shell and lining are both made from Pertex® Lightweight 20D Nylon Ripstop with a down-proof, water-repellent coating, keeping the 800-fill high-loft down dry and locked in place. Full 3D baffling eliminates cold spots by giving each chamber real volume, while mesh-lined Pit Zip™ vents, a two-way center front zipper, and stretch cuffs let you dial your temperature as conditions shift. A drawcord hem, full-time adjustable hood, zippered chest pocket, and hand warmer pockets round out the feature set. The jacket packs into its own stuff sack and carries a Bluesign® certification for responsible manufacturing. It comes in a regular fit.
Who It's ForThis jacket is made for riders who venture into the backcountry or spend long days in cold, exposed terrain where managing warmth is non-negotiable. If you need one layer that can shift from active touring to standing around in arctic conditions, the Baker Expedition earns its place in the pack. It also comes with a lifetime warranty, making it a long-term investment for serious mountain time.
FAQ- Is this jacket waterproof or water-resistant? The Pertex® fabric carries a water-repellent coating, making it water-resistant — it will handle light moisture and snow, but it is not a fully waterproof shell. For heavy rain or wet snow, layering it under a hardshell is recommended.
- Can it be used as a standalone jacket or only as a midlayer? Both. Its regular fit and full-time hood make it wearable on its own in cold, dry conditions, and it layers cleanly under a shell when you need added protection.
