I came to Bellhaven to disappear. No photographs on the walls. No second set of silverware. No reason for anyone to stay.

Then I said yes to a ruined ballroom, two strangers, and a fourteen-week deadline.

We were supposed to restore a building. We were not supposed to find a locked room behind the stage, a wedding dress no bride came back for, and a silence this town had been keeping for thirty-seven years.

I should have left it alone.
