Saigon, 1968: “Maddawg” McCluskie, a newly-promoted Lieutenant in the Saigon CID, is assigned the task of tracking down an escapee from Long Binh Jail who has fled to Soul Alley, a refuge for the Black flotsam and jetsam of the Vietnam War. It is a hornets’ nest that Saigon’s Military Police do their best to avoid, and where Maddawg is to face his toughest test. From the streets of Oakland, Black Panthers have arrived in Saigon, who are organizing a high-stakes operation that will set the war-torn city ablaze.
