Crooked Hammer

Inga, a "valued asset" of the Academy, strains against her cage, battles for scraps of respect, sneaks tiny moments to be herself.

Having built a secret sanctuary, her soul survives, for as long as she can keep it secret, shrouded, masked. Meanwhile, tribes of barbarian foreigners squabble and brawl with the city guard, stumbling ever closer to riots and slaughter, and Inga is right in the middle of it.

Action, drama, Gaslamp Fantasy: return to the Artifice Academy, and see who survives. You can start the series here, even if you haven't read the others. :)
