Murder in the Bakkeveen Dunes

Murder in the Bakkeveen Dunes.

Is a dark Nordic noir crime thriller set along the isolated dunes and storm-beaten coastline near Bakkeveen.

The story follows Thomas, a devoted stepfather whose life collapses after his partner, Sofie, is found brutally murdered in the dunes. The body is discovered after the family’s loyal Labrador leads police to the scene, but when Thomas returns home alone with the dog, suspicion immediately turns toward him.

As two grieving teenagers struggle to understand what happened to their mother, veteran detective Henrik Lund becomes obsessed with proving Thomas is guilty. Under intense public pressure, the investigation spirals into tunnel vision, manipulated evidence, and devastating mistakes.

But behind the murder lies a darker truth.

Sofie’s violent ex-husband, imprisoned for previous crimes, has secretly hired a contract killer out of jealousy and revenge after learning she had found happiness with another man.

“If I can’t have her, no one will.”

The novel explores grief, obsession, corruption, and the destructive consequences of false accusations. Combining atmospheric coastal settings with emotional psychological tension, the story blends a murder mystery with a deeply human tragedy about trust, family, and the search for truth.
