The fires were supposed to be behind them. The truth never was.Book 2 of the West Creek Ranch series. Months after Christa Corbett walked free on a technicality, Max is still no closer to knowing who really burned West Creek Ranch's homesteads — or whether the answer is someone he loves. His grandmother left him nearly everything before she died, his brother almost nothing, and the resentment between them hasn't cooled.Ellen Jasper has built a life here anyway — a bakery, a home, a man she trusts completely — even as her father tightens his grip from three states away, determined to force her back to New York and expand his mining empire onto Corbett land. When a blizzard sweeps through the valley and Max doesn't come home, Ellen is caught between two impossible choices: search for the man she loves, or answer her father's summons to a bedside she's not sure she can trust. As old secrets resurface and a storm closes every road out of the valley, Ellen will have to decide how much of her past she's willing to face — before she loses everything she's built.
