The Last Daughter of Briar House: A Southern Gothic Ancestral Fantasy Romance

Ava Briar buried her grandmother on a Sunday and inherited a house with conditions.

Never lend salt. Speak to the garden. Keep the door at the bottom of the stairs shut.

Seventeen years away built her an ordinary life. One reading of the will unbuilds it. Nobody has been inside Briar House since the last woman who knew its rules walked out of it, and there are eleven covered dishes on the porch steps to prove it.

Ava came home expecting debt and repairs. She inherited a garden that blooms out of season, a society that keeps ledgers older than the state of Georgia, and Kaius, ancient and infuriating and devastating, a guardian bound to the Briar bloodline by an oath older than the city. He has protected eight generations of Briar women.

He has buried every one of them.

Because Briar House keeps its own accounts, and something has been waiting three hundred years for a Briar to come home.

Every family buries something. Hers buried it under the house. The Midnight Society, Book One.
