The Kite
The Kite is a beautifully illustrated and deeply symbolic children's poem about a curious child searching for answers to some of life's biggest questions. Afraid of storms, lightning, hunger, and a world without hope, the child turns to the leaders and adults around him for guidance. When they suggest that he seek answers from a divine being, he builds a kite from bamboo, decorates it with prayers and praises, and sends it into the wind.
As the child grows stronger, more confident, and independent, the kite becomes a powerful symbol of courage and determination. He watches it rise higher and higher while battling the destructive winds that bring hurricanes and torrential rains. Although he waits a lifetime without receiving an answer from God, he finds something meaningful in the journey itself: the courage to dream, to persevere, and ultimately to imagine becoming a kite himself.
Presented in multiple languages including English, French, Spanish, German, Haitian Creole, Ga, Twi, Yoruba, and kiSwahili The Kite celebrates the connections between cultures, languages, faith, nature, and the universal human search for hope. It is a thoughtful and inspiring story for young readers, families, educators, and anyone who believes that courage and imagination can help us rise above life's storms.
