Uways Al - Qarani

BACK COVER

To the present generation and to the generations yet to come, I wrote this book because I fear that in our race toward progress, fame, wealth, and technology, we may forget the most important lesson of all: how to remain human. The story of Uways al-Qarani reminds us that greatness does not always belong to the famous, the powerful, or the wealthy. His remembered devotion to his mother, his humility, his closeness to the poor, and his refusal to seek status offer a timeless lesson for a world increasingly obsessed with recognition. To my children and to every young person who will inherit the future, I say: pursue knowledge, build your dreams, become successful, but never lose your way. When you become powerful, remember the powerless; when you become wealthy, remember the poor; when the world knows your name, remember the people who loved you before anyone knew it. And above all, remember your mother. Her sacrifices may never appear in history books, yet they may be among the greatest reasons you are able to stand where you stand. Uways's story teaches us that being unseen does not mean being insignificant, and that true greatness is not measured by applause but by character. If this book leaves one message behind, let it be this: Do not allow the noise of the world to make you forget the voice of your conscience or the hands that raised you. I wrote these pages not merely to preserve the memory of a man from the past, but to place a mirror before the future. May every generation that reads his story learn to choose truth over appearance, humility over pride, compassion over indifference, and gratitude over forgetfulness. And if one reader closes this book and calls their mother, helps someone forgotten, or chooses goodness when nobody is watching, then the story of Uways has not remained in the past-it has entered the future. The world searched for Uways; Uways did not search for the world. He did not ask to be remembered; his life became the reason he was remembered. May we learn from him before we lose our way.
