Wang Yi: Personal Operating System: From the Liu Tao’s Seventy-Two Functions to a One-Person Company’s Second Brain and Personal Operating System

Working alone does not mean you should run your work from one overloaded mind. In Wang Yi: Personal Operating System, Fleming Chuang translates the advisory structure of the Wang Yi section of the Liu Tao (The Six Secret Teachings) into a practical framework for solo professionals, independent creators, consultants, and small teams.

The book’s central idea is simple: complex work requires different kinds of judgment, and those judgments need visible roles, outputs, rhythms, and boundaries. Instead of treating every problem as another task, the Personal Operating System organizes work into six connected modules: the Strategy Hub, Environment Intelligence, Methods Library, Infrastructure & Logistics, Brand Signals, and Resilience & Recovery.

Across 23 chapters and a set of working appendices, you will learn how to turn direction into a one-page strategy, quarterly theme, Stop List, and decision record; filter external information into signals that can change a real decision; convert repeated experience into method cards, templates, SOPs, and AI role cards; protect time, cash flow, files, permissions, backups, and operational capacity; build a recognizable brand through a sustainable content supply chain; and design Slack, Trip Rules, Low-Load Mode, and recovery plans so the business can continue through disruption.

This is not a productivity manual about squeezing more work into every hour. It is a guide to building a system that remains useful when attention is limited, conditions change, or the principal needs help. Whether you are starting a one-person company, managing a knowledge practice, or coordinating a micro-team, you can use the book as a diagnostic mirror or as a 30-day launch plan. The goal is not to become superhuman. It is to stop making superhuman effort the operating system.
