The Man in Khaki: A New World

What if you could escape the war that destroyed you—only to discover that history had found another path to bloodshed?

Paul has survived the Western Front, military prison and a Britain transformed by the Great War. Eric Junger has endured the same conflict from the other side of No Man’s Land.

Then they meet the Man in Khaki.

He offers them something impossible: another world.

In this history, the catastrophe they remember never happened. Europe escaped the Great War. Hundreds of thousands of men who should be dead are still alive. Empires that collapsed still stand, old rivalries have taken new forms, and the political order of Europe has developed along paths neither Paul nor Eric recognises.

For Paul, it is a chance to become the man he might have been. Instead of carrying a rifle, he picks up a reporter’s notebook and finds himself drawn into the turmoil surrounding Ireland, Home Rule and a British Army struggling with divided loyalties.
