The Record Looks Back

Nora Delmas knows the evidence against her is real. The account is hers. So is the shortcut she took. But she did not plant 386 anti-Christian readings inside a European manuscript-imaging network.

Most of the leaked readings are forgeries. A few are worse: they survive in source images captured before Nora ever had access. When the auditor testing her claim is murdered, Nora is forced into a race through frozen logs, independent archives, and institutions desperate to control what can be proved.

The surviving records point to a history of repeated deletion—and to modern authorities who knew what earlier custodians had erased. Yet the raw proof also contains the confessions, medical files, and counseling records of living people. To clear her name, Nora must expose the machinery of the lie without sacrificing the people already trapped inside it.

Because proving the institutions lied will not prove God absent. And some records do more than survive. They look back.
