The Standing Account

When retired auditor Arthur Fenwick is found murdered in a locked service chamber in London, he is clutching an old bank mandate signed by a woman who vanished twenty-five years earlier.

That woman was Irena Petrescu.

And her daughter, secure courier Zora Jankovic, has spent most of her life believing she would never know what happened to her.

What begins as a murder investigation soon exposes something far larger: a hidden network of old housing records, protected accounts, false identities and forgotten administrative systems that can still move people through modern London without leaving a reliable trail.

As Detective Inspector Safiya Trent follows the evidence, Zora is drawn deeper into a world where hospital transfers can be fabricated, access records rewritten, surveillance reconstructed and the dead can continue to authorise transactions long after they are gone.

Then Zora's father disappears.

Now the past is no longer buried.

It is active.

And someone is willing to kill to keep the Standing Account open.

The Standing Account is a tense London crime thriller about murder, family secrets, corrupted records and the terrifying power of systems people trust without question.
