SONNY WITH GREY SKIZE

Sixteen-year-old Sonny has spent his teen years chasing his father's dream of becoming an elite baseball player. Since Sonny's father passed away, Sonny lost his coach, trainer, and best friend, which has caused his hitting skills to diminish. Sonny's childhood best friend, Grey, has become the consensus number one pick in the upcoming Major League draft, leading the nation in every major offensive category. Besides Grey being a beast with the bat, his pitches have topped the radar at 109 mph.

Sonny was substituted in the last inning in the city championship and told not to swing the bat, walk, or strike out. Sonny disregards his coach's instructions, believing his father would think he was a coward for not trying to help his team win. Sonny hits into the game-ending double play and is attacked by his coach, slammed into by his teammates, and shamed in front of the parents and students.

Depressed, confused, and alienated at school, Sonny contemplates quitting the game he and his father cherished, understanding he would be losing the only connection left with his dad. Sonny saves his new neighbor's dog from being hit by a car and finds out his neighbor is none other than Pete "Charlie Hustle" Rose, who thanks him and agrees to try and help overcome his hitting woes. After nine days of unsuccessful batting practice, Sonny prays to God for the first time and is granted a divine gift that helps him see the ball like he's never seen it before. His newfound ability brings new challenges, a new team and teammates, his first love, and a heated rivalry and showdown with Grey.

SONNY WITH GREY SKIZE is a story of faith, friendship, love, hope, perseverance, and the courage to keep swinging when everything else tells you to quit.
