Transactions of Adia Lab: Advances in Artificial Intelligence, Climate Science, High-Performance Computing, Causal Inference, and Digital Finance
Part I applies AI and physics-informed modeling to climate and environmental science, including forest growth under climate change, extreme weather prediction, and sub-kilometer regional weather forecasting for the UAE. Part II covers methodological advances in machine learning, from responsible AI frameworks to federated fine-tuning of large language models. Part III turns to high-performance computing, including stochastic rounding and a reflection on algorithmic strategy by 2021 ACM Turing Award laureate Jack Dongarra. Part IV presents new results in causal inference and investment management, including the 2024 ADIA Lab Causal Discovery Challenge and causal factor investing. Part V explores responsible digital finance and blockchain, from a pioneering pilot in 'interspecies money' for wildlife conservation to cryptographic wallet security and Ethereum Layer 2 scaling. Together, the chapters demonstrate how rigorous, causally grounded science can be applied to some of today's most pressing technical and societal challenges.
