Long ago, there were ten suns in the sky, but only one appeared each day to give light and warmth. One day, all ten suns came out together to play, making the earth unbearably hot. Rivers dried up, plants died, and people suffered without food or water. A brave archer named Hou Yi wanted to save the world. Using his bow and arrows, he shot down nine suns one by one. The earth became cool and peaceful again. When Hou Yi wanted to shoot the last sun, someone stopped him, explaining that the world still needed one sun. Hou Yi agreed, and balance returned to the earth. This book is for all Chinese beginners. I tried to include most of the vocabularies used in the story, along with their English meanings. Wherever possible, I tried to make use of simple grammar structures and avoid the more complicated grammar structures. If you are a beginner in the Chinese language, this is the book for you.
