REFLECTIONS OF A MODERN AMERICAN POET
Born in 1949 to Irish and Italian immigrant parents, Kenneth Scillieri came of age in postwar America, growing up in the small town of Maywood, New Jersey. Raised during the simplicity of the 1950s and the turbulence of the 1960s, his early life was shaped by strong values, cultural change, and a nation on the brink of transformation.
Serving in the U.S. military from 1967 through 1991-from Vietnam to Desert Storm-he experienced both the hardships of war and the shifting attitudes of a divided country, once criticized as a soldier and later honored as a hero. Throughout it all, he turned to writing, capturing his thoughts and experiences in poetry that spans decades.
This collection offers a deeply personal and reflective journey through one man's life, blending history, service, and emotion into words that are both accessible and powerfully sincere.
