Georgian Polished Steel Firegrate, circa 1800

This fine grate is an ideal size for domestic use. The serpentine shape is especially desirable. The fire basket is flanked by a pair of columnar pedestals with large finials, and has a beautiful applied frieze with pierced cutwork decoration. We feel that this grate is early.
