An exceptional 100% cotton luxury manufacturer deadstock distinguished by extraordinarily elaborate white-on-white embroidery. This is a true statement textile, combining sweeping ornamental motifs, stylized florals, sculptural scrollwork and intricate open areas into a richly dimensional design.
The embroidery creates large interconnected motifs that move across the cotton ground in an almost lace-like composition. Curving scrolls and leaf-like forms are surrounded by smaller embroidered details, while open sections are crossed with delicate threadwork and tiny knotted rosette-like accents. The variation between densely embroidered areas, fine cotton ground and transparent openwork gives the design remarkable depth.
Viewed from the right side, the embroidery has an especially luxurious, highly textured finish. Raised looping stitches trace the ornamental motifs and create a dimensional surface that catches the light beautifully. Despite its monochromatic white palette, the variety of embroidery techniques gives the fabric extraordinary visual richness.
The result feels both romantic and contemporary: an elaborate textile that can transform even a relatively simple sewing pattern into a statement garment.
Both the base fabric and embroidery are 100% cotton.
The complete embroidered fabric weighs approximately 334 gsm - 9.85 oz/yd². This weight includes the extensive embroidery and should not be interpreted as the weight of the underlying cotton base alone. The exceptionally dense and dimensional embroidery contributes substantially to the finished weight of the fabric.
Important Width InformationThe complete fabric measures approximately 139 cm - 55" wide, while the embroidered design covers approximately 119.5 cm - 47". We recommend using the 119.5 cm embroidered width when calculating fabric requirements and planning pattern placement.
Because of the scale and complexity of the embroidery, thoughtful pattern placement can make a dramatic difference in the finished garment. Consider the placement of the larger ornamental motifs when positioning prominent pattern pieces such as bodices, sleeves, skirt panels or front and back pieces.

This exceptional embroidered cotton is particularly beautiful for statement dresses, special-occasion dresses, skirts, blouses, dramatic shirts, shirt dresses, elegant tops and elevated summer garments. Its intricate white-on-white construction also makes it especially compelling for contemporary romantic, resort, bridal and bridal-adjacent sewing projects.
Because the embroidery itself provides so much visual interest, simple silhouettes can be particularly effective. Clean garment lines allow the scale, texture and complexity of the textile to become the focal point.
The openwork areas are an intentional part of the design. Depending on the garment and desired level of coverage, the fabric can be paired with a lining or contrasting underlayer. A tonal white or ivory lining will create a refined monochromatic effect, while a contrasting underlayer can dramatically emphasize the open embroidered details.
Luxury Manufacturer DeadstockThis exceptional deadstock fabric was sourced from a textile manufacturer that produces fabrics for European luxury fashion designers. As deadstock, quantities are limited. Once sold out, this fabric will not be available again.
CareDue to the intricate and dimensional nature of this embroidery, we recommend washing in cold water on a gentle cycle, preferably inside a laundry bag to help protect the embroidered and openwork details. Air dry. Iron carefully on the reverse at a low to medium temperature using a pressing cloth. Avoid contact with jewellery, zippers, hook-and-loop fasteners or rough surfaces that could catch the embroidery. Prewashing before sewing is recommended.
FAQIs this fabric 100% cotton?
Yes. Both the base fabric and the embroidery are 100% cotton.
Does the 334 gsm weight include the embroidery?
Yes. The 334 gsm - 9.85 oz/yd² measurement represents the total weight of the finished embroidered fabric, including the extensive embroidery. It should not be interpreted as the weight of the underlying cotton base alone.
Is the entire 139 cm width embroidered?
No. The complete fabric measures approximately 139 cm - 55" wide, while the embroidered design covers approximately 119.5 cm - 47". We recommend using the embroidered width when calculating fabric requirements.
Are the open areas intentional?
Yes. The open sections are an integral part of the design. Many incorporate delicate connecting threads and small embroidered details, creating the intricate lace-like appearance of the fabric.
Will this fabric need to be lined?
That depends on the garment and desired effect. The design contains significant open areas, so a lining or underlayer may be preferred when additional coverage is required. Leaving selected areas unlined can also showcase the embroidery beautifully.
Does this fabric stretch?
No. This is a non-stretch woven cotton fabric.
