The Threshold Shorts PDF Sewing Pattern by Fehr Trade is a performance running shorts pattern designed for lightweight woven or mesh fabrics. Featuring curved seam lines, a bound hem, an elastic waistband and three optional pockets, these shorts combine practical storage with freedom of movement for running and training.

An optional runderwear brief or thong is also included. Wear it separately or attach it directly to the shorts at the waistband to create an integrated running short. The shorts have a 5 cm (2") inseam for a lightweight, athletic fit.

Recommended Fabrics

For the Shorts: Lightweight performance woven or mesh fabrics are recommended. Suitable options include aerated wicking polyester such as Dri-Fit or CoolMax, or lightweight woven nylon similar to Ripstop.

For the Runderwear: Use a 4-way stretch Lycra jersey with at least 50% stretch in both directions and good recovery. Wicking Lycra is ideal. The runderwear is drafted with approximately 10% negative ease.

Fabric Requirements

• Shorts: 0.9 m (¾ yd) lightweight performance woven or mesh fabric
• Runderwear: 0.4 m (⅜ yd) Lycra jersey with at least 50% stretch in both directions
• Small scrap of natural fibre fabric for the runderwear crotch lining

Supplies

• 2 m Foldover Elastic (FOE) or other suitable binding
• Less than 1 m of 2 cm (¾") woven or braided waistband elastic
• 2 m of 6 mm (¼") lingerie elastic for integrated runderwear
• 3 m of 6 mm (¼") lingerie elastic for standalone runderwear
• Twin needle or coverstitch machine for elastic edges and hems
