The Tessellate Tee PDF Sewing Pattern by Fehr Trade is a versatile activewear T-shirt featuring geometric asymmetric seaming that's perfect for colourblocking. Sew a basic short- or long-sleeved workout top, then customize it with practical features for running, cycling, hiking and everyday activewear.

Optional details include thumb cuffs, a hood with a special ponytail opening and a zippered back pocket. Add just one feature or combine all three to create an activewear top that suits your favourite activities. Instructions are also included for making the hood without the ponytail opening.

The Tessellate Tee is designed for stretch jersey fabrics with at least 20% crosswise stretch.

Suitable fabrics include:

  • Cotton jersey
  • Lightweight sweatshirting
  • French terry
  • Supplex Lycra
Fabric Requirements
  • Fabric 1 – Upper Front, Upper Back, Sleeves & Neckline: 1 m (1 yd) of 150 cm (60") wide fabric
  • Fabric 2 – Side Front & Side Back: 40 cm (½ yd) of 150 cm (60") wide fabric
  • Fabric 3 – Lower Front & Lower Back: 40 cm (½ yd) of 150 cm (60") wide fabric
  • Thumb Cuffs: 20 cm (¼ yd) of 150 cm (60") wide fabric – these can also be cut from one of the three main fabrics
  • Ponytail Hood: 0.5 m (½ yd) of 150 cm (60") wide fabric

To make the entire top with the thumb cuffs, ponytail hood and back pocket in one fabric, you will need approximately 1.9 m (2⅛ yd) of 150 cm (60") wide fabric.

Supplies
  • Stretch jersey fabric with at least 20% crosswise stretch
  • 20 cm (8") invisible zipper for the optional back pocket
  • Small amount of lightweight fusible interfacing or Vilene bias tape for the optional pocket
  • Twin needle or coverstitch machine for hems and sleeve hems
