The Quilt & Sofa/Bed Topper PDF Sewing Pattern by Merchant & Mills provides instructions for creating a beautiful handmade quilt or a practical topper for a bed, sofa or bench.

Originally developed while Merchant & Mills were renovating their house in Rye, The Grove, this project was designed as a beautiful way to showcase combinations of their laundered linens within the home.

Choose between a quilt or a sofa/bed topper. The topper uses self-made fabric ties, while the quilt is finished with multiple ties of linen thread. These techniques are interchangeable, allowing you to customize your project and finished look.

Wadding

Merchant & Mills recommends a lightweight wool-blend wadding, particularly when using two heavier fabrics for the outer layers.

A lightweight recycled polyester wadding can also be used if you prefer a loftier quilt. The number of layers of wadding can be adjusted depending on the desired thickness and finish.
