The 151 Japanese Hakama & Kataginu pattern by Folkwear recreates two garments from the traditional Japanese Kamishimo worn by members of the samurai or warrior class during the Edo period.

The Hakama is a traditional pleated pant/skirt designed to fit according to the wearer's waist measurement. The wide-shouldered Kataginu can be made in matching fabric for a traditional appearance or in a contrasting fabric for a dramatic contemporary look.

Recommended Fabric Width: 54–60" / 137–150 cm

• 22–24" Waist: 2 3/4 yds / 2.6 m
• 26–28" Waist: 3 1/4 yds / 3 m
• 30–32" Waist: 3 3/4 yds / 3.5 m
• 34–36" Waist: 4 1/2 yds / 4.2 m
• 38–40" Waist: 4 3/4 yds / 4.4 m
• 42–44" Waist: 5 1/4 yds / 4.8 m
• 46–48" Waist: 5 3/4 yds / 5.3 m

For Other Waist Sizes: Multiply the waist measurement by 4 and divide by 36 to determine the approximate yardage required. Folkwear recommends purchasing up to an additional 1/2 yd / 0.5 m to ensure enough fabric for the himo ties and Koshiita backboard.
