The 211 Two Middies by Folkwear celebrates the classic Middy shirt, a naval-inspired garment that became especially fashionable during the 1920s. Originally associated with sailors and naval uniforms, the Middy later became popular with women for sports, school and everyday wear.
View A is based on a simple shirt worn by British seamen in tropical climates. Traditionally sewn in white cotton twill with contrasting blue binding, it features a distinctive square neckline, short sleeves and a self-patch at the back.
View B recreates the classic 1920s Middy worn for school, office and sports. It features a square Middy collar, V-neck opening, short set-in sleeves with band cuffs, a patch pocket and a side-buttoned hip band. A tab below the neckline can hold a contrasting scarf or tie, and instructions for making the tie are included.
