The 231 Big Sky Riding Skirt by Folkwear is based on the divided riding skirts worn by adventurous equestrian women at the turn of the 20th century. Inspired by rodeo star Fannie Sperry Steele, this ingenious design combines the appearance of a skirt with the freedom and practicality of culottes.

The garment features a movable front panel that can button to the left for a skirt effect or to the right for a pants effect. A deep centre-back pleat conceals the divided legs while providing generous fullness and a smooth line over the hips.

Double front plackets are secured with buttons extending toward the hem, while practical side-seam pockets have been added to the original historical design. Choose between a contemporary mid-calf length or the traditional ankle length.
