The 204 Missouri River Boatman's Shirt by Folkwear is a roomy historical pullover work shirt inspired by garments worn by raftsmen and fur traders along the Missouri, Mississippi and Ohio Rivers during 19th-century America.

Full sleeves with underarm gussets are gathered into a shoulder yoke, with a choice of narrow or convertible cuffs. A neck gusset set into the shoulders gathers into a simple turned-back collar that fastens loosely with a tape tie. The traditional tunic-length silhouette can also be shortened for a more contemporary shirt that can be tucked into trousers.

For authentic detailing, the pattern includes instructions for a cross-stitch monogram and a needle-lace godet inspired by the reinforcement traditionally used at the bottom of the front opening. The casual, versatile design works equally well for historical costuming, reenactment and contemporary wear.
