The 129 Japanese Hapi & Haori sewing pattern by Folkwear includes two traditional Japanese-inspired outer garments plus a pattern for Tabi split-toe slipper socks.
The Haori is a thigh-length lined jacket sized for women. It features a straight front opening finished with a neckband extending to the hem, deep elbow-length curved sleeves that remain open next to the body, and a narrow side panel below the underarm opening.
The Hapi is an unlined, fingertip-length shopcoat sized for both women and men. Traditionally worn by storekeepers, craftsmen and firemen, its simple rectangular construction makes it especially suitable for creative fabric, colour and texture combinations.
The pattern also includes Tabi, traditional Japanese split-toe slipper socks designed to be worn with thong-style footwear, as well as silk-screen fabric painting techniques and traditional-inspired designs.
