The 1920s Flapper Dress sewing pattern by Folkwear recreates the straight, relaxed silhouette that became an icon of Roaring Twenties fashion. Based on an original 1920s dress, this remarkably simple design uses only two pattern pieces while offering plenty of opportunity for dramatic embellishment.
The dress features a slightly A-line silhouette, sleeveless bodice, rounded neckline and a slightly dropped waist. The front and back are identical, creating the easy, unrestricted shape characteristic of 1920s flapper fashion.
Folkwear's original garment was made from black cotton and silk gauze heavily embellished with black glass beads arranged in Art Deco-inspired motifs, with red glass beads outlining the neckline, armholes, waist and hem. Recreate the elaborate period look with beads or fringe, or keep the design beautifully simple in a fluid silk, rayon, lawn, gauze or linen.
