A truly distinctive 100% cotton luxury manufacturer deadstock, this exceptional white-on-white fabric features an oversized heart motif created through an elaborate combination of embroidery, openwork and solid cotton.

The design is composed of large stylized hearts connected by flowing embroidered lines, creating a bold all-over pattern with a sophisticated graphic quality. Some hearts are formed almost entirely from intricate open latticework, while others retain portions of the cotton ground and are finished with delicate embroidered outlines and interior details.

Look closely and the complexity of the embroidery becomes even more apparent. Fine dimensional stitching follows the contours of each motif, while the openwork sections are constructed from a delicate grid of thread. Smaller heart details appear throughout the composition, adding another layer of visual interest to the larger statement pattern.

The result is a beautiful contrast between smooth cotton, raised tonal embroidery and transparent openwork. Despite its entirely white palette, the variation in texture and transparency gives the fabric remarkable depth and allows the heart design to become especially striking when placed over skin, a lining or a contrasting underlayer.

Romantic without feeling overly delicate, this is a statement textile with a decidedly modern character. Its oversized heart motif and monochromatic construction allow the embroidery itself to become the focal point of a garment, making even a relatively simple silhouette feel exceptional.

The complete embroidered fabric weighs approximately 305 gsm - 9.00 oz/yd². This weight includes the extensive embroidery and should not be interpreted as the weight of the underlying cotton base alone. The substantial amount of embroidered thread and openwork construction contributes significantly to the finished weight.

Important Width Information

The complete fabric measures approximately 143 cm - 56" wide, while the embroidered design covers approximately 123 cm - 48".

We recommend using the 123 cm - 48" embroidered width when calculating fabric requirements and planning pattern placement.

Because the hearts are large and form an important part of the overall design, thoughtful pattern placement is recommended. Positioning individual motifs strategically on a bodice, sleeve, skirt or other prominent area can create a particularly striking finished garment.

Recommended Uses

This statement embroidered cotton would be particularly beautiful for dresses, summer dresses, shirt dresses, blouses, statement tops, skirts, gathered garments, wide-leg trousers and special-occasion pieces.

The monochromatic white palette and romantic heart motif also make it an intriguing choice for modern bridal, bridal-adjacent, engagement, honeymoon and elevated resort-inspired garments.

Simple silhouettes can be especially effective with a textile this distinctive, allowing the oversized hearts and openwork construction to remain the focus of the finished garment.

Because portions of the design are intentionally open, a lining or underlayer may be desirable depending on the garment. A white, ivory or nude-toned layer will maintain a subtle tonal effect, while a contrasting colour underneath will make the openwork heart design considerably more pronounced.

Care

Due to the intricate openwork embroidery, we recommend washing in cold water on a gentle cycle, preferably inside a laundry bag to help protect the embroidered details. Air dry. Iron carefully on the reverse at a low to medium temperature using a pressing cloth. Avoid contact with jewellery, zippers, hook-and-loop fasteners or rough surfaces that could catch the open embroidery. Prewashing before sewing is recommended.

FAQ

Does the 305 gsm weight include the embroidery?
Yes. The 305 gsm - 9.00 oz/yd² measurement represents the total weight of the finished fabric, including the embroidery. It should not be interpreted as the weight of the underlying cotton base alone.

Is the entire 143 cm width embroidered?
No. The complete fabric measures approximately 143 cm - 56" wide, while the embroidered design covers approximately 123 cm - 48". We recommend using the embroidered width when calculating fabric requirements.

Are the open areas part of the design?
Yes. The mesh-like and lattice sections are intentionally incorporated into the embroidered heart motifs, creating the distinctive contrast between solid cotton and transparent openwork areas.

Will this fabric need to be lined?
That depends on the garment and desired effect. Because the design incorporates substantial openwork areas, a lining or underlayer may be preferred when additional coverage is desired.

Does this fabric stretch?
No. This is a non-stretch woven cotton fabric.
