One of the main obstacles we encounter in spending time alone with God is the lack of a flexible and balanced structure to guide us. The goal of this book is to provide you with a tool to assist you in your daily appointments with God.

We use the expression "daily appointments" by design. This experience differs from what we call *personal worship* or *quiet time* in our circles. The appointments proposed in this work are practiced at least twice a day, and they are not so much an opportunity to turn to God to *get* something as they are to *be* with God.

Throughout these pages, Peter Scazzero leads us on a forty-day spiritual journey. He encourages us to refocus on Christ, to dig "beneath the surface" of our lives, and to rediscover the virtues of silence, Sabbath, and contemplation.
