Epistles to the Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians – Bible Commentaries – John Calvin

Four letters from Paul, four different emphases, but one single center: Jesus Christ and the Gospel. In this volume of Biblical Commentaries, John Calvin offers an in-depth reading of the epistles to the Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians.

Through Galatians, Calvin focuses on Christian liberty and justification by faith. In Ephesians, he highlights the new humanity created in Christ and the vocation of the Church. Philippians opens a reflection on joy, humility, and perseverance, while Colossians leads the reader toward the supremacy and centrality of Christ.

Calvin does not merely explain the texts: his commentary seeks to bring out the theological and practical implications of Paul's teaching. He thus invites the reader to consider how grace, faith, and union with Christ truly shape the life of the believer.

A rich work for those who wish to deepen their study of Paul’s letters, discover John Calvin’s biblical reading, and explore the great themes of the Christian faith with a theological perspective shaped by the Reformation.

A volume particularly interesting for personal study, sermon preparation, and all those who desire to go further in their understanding of the New Testament.
