From Visible to Revealed – Removing Obstacles to Revelation – Bruce and Barbara Thompson

Sometimes we look without truly seeing. In From the Visible to the Revealed, Bruce and Barbara Thompson invite the reader to identify what can hinder us from discerning God’s work and fully receiving what He wishes to reveal to us.

The authors take as their starting point the story of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus. As they walk in discouragement following the death of Jesus, their understanding remains limited until the moment their eyes are opened. This scene becomes a powerful image of our own spiritual journey: our disappointments, certainties, reasoning, or expectations can sometimes obscure the reality of God.

Through an accessible and deeply spiritual reflection, Bruce and Barbara Thompson encourage the reader to move beyond a merely intellectual understanding of faith to learn to receive the Lord's teaching. The book addresses, in particular, how our preconceived convictions can influence our perception and become obstacles to learning and revelation.

The goal is not to seek extraordinary experiences, but to let God transform our perspective in order to better understand His Word, His action, and His purpose. When the heart becomes attentive, what seemed hidden can take on a new meaning.

A short but stimulating book for spiritual growth, listening to God, and discovering a faith capable of looking beyond appearances. An invitation to ask, like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, that our eyes be opened to recognize what God is accomplishing.
