A Lamp to Our Feet – The Bible for Today – John Stott

Is the Bible still capable of illuminating our contemporary world? In Basic Christian Teachings, John Stott returns to this fundamental conviction: the Word of God must be listened to, understood, and put into practice. It is not merely a text to be studied, but a revelation intended to transform the life of the believer and shape the Church.

With his customary clarity, Stott explores the central place of the Bible in the Christian faith. In particular, he examines the relationship between God and His Word, Jesus Christ and the Bible, the role of the Holy Spirit, the place of the Scriptures in the Church, and their importance in the life of the disciple. These different perspectives help us better understand why the Bible remains indispensable for spiritual growth.

The author also insists on the relevance of God's Word for today's world. In an era where values are shifting rapidly, the Christian is called not only to know the Scriptures but to let them guide their convictions, choices, and way of life.

John Stott, a major figure in the 20th-century evangelical movement, was known for his preaching ministry and his commitment to a Christianity deeply rooted in the Bible. In this concise work, he applies his experience to an essential question: what place should the Word of God actually occupy in our lives?

A short but rich book, particularly suitable for personal reading, Bible study groups, new believers, and anyone wishing to rediscover the authority, relevance, and power of the Bible for today.
