The Book of Micah – CEB Bible Commentary – Daniel Schibler

The Book of Micah carries a particularly relevant message: in the midst of a society marked by injustice, infidelity, and abuse of power, God recalls the requirements of His justice while demonstrating His faithfulness and grace.

In this commentary, Daniel Schibler guides the reader through an attentive study of the text of Micah. He seeks to place the prophet's words within their historical and spiritual context, while drawing connections to the concerns of the contemporary reader. The commentary highlights the tension between the infidelity of the people and the faithfulness of God, as well as the consequences of social injustice and distance from God.

The work also gives significant attention to the figure of the shepherd-king and the perspectives of hope that run throughout the book. The judgments announced by Micah are not the final word: behind the prophet's warnings lies the promise of restoration and divine intervention.

Daniel Schibler possesses a solid background in biblical and Oriental studies. Holding a doctorate in Oriental studies from the Sorbonne Nouvelle, he has taught the Old Testament and exegesis. His approach allows readers to benefit from serious work on the text while remaining accessible to those who wish to deepen their understanding of the Bible. 
