Maria Tolmacheva: How Tasya lived

$30.95

Maria Tolmacheva began writing actively in her adult years, after moving from Nizhny Novgorod to St. Petersburg and attending literary evenings hosted by the publishers of the children's magazine "Tropinka" (The Path). There, she became friends with Alexander Blok's mother, and later, she began to socialize with the poet himself. Her novella "How Tasya Lived," published in 1913, immediately captured the attention of the reading public. After the revolution, she continued to write for children while working in preschool institutions. The writer died in besieged Leningrad, leaving behind many generations of readers who cherish her touching stories about little heroes.
On her sixth birthday, Tasya receives a wonderful white teddy bear as a gift from her grandfather. So why is the girl not happy? She is worried about her old bear—worn, patched, but so dear and beloved. The old bear must be thinking that Tasya will now abandon him, forgetting him for the sake of the handsome new bear with a beautiful blue ribbon. But no, Tasya will not betray her old friend! Yet, she feels sorry for the new bear, too—how lonely he must be in a strange home... If only her two bears could become friends! But for now, the little girl will have to make a difficult choice, solve a real, serious problem, and learn to follow her conscience.
