Jochem Mayer: Gorgel World

Do you know who the Gorgels are?

Gorgels live on the Island in hidden burrows. They come out at nightfall, feed on Gorgel-berries, and never let themselves be seen by humans.

A little Gorgel named Bobba, who was born in one of these burrows, starts school. There, he learns about the magical powers of Gorgels and about the nasty Brutals, which cause children to catch colds, the flu, and other illnesses, and which awaken from their summer hibernation when the months with an "r" in their names arrive. He also learns about the secret mission of the Gorgels: the best among them become Guardian Gorgels and are sent to the mainland to protect human children from the Brutals.

Bobba dreams of becoming a Guardian Gorgel. He studies hard and eventually receives his first assignment—to protect a boy named Melle…
