Coles 4038 Ribbon Microphone Bundle with 4072 Mount

Coles 4038 Ribbon Microphone Bundle with 4072 Mount

Capture instruments, ensembles, and room ambience with the smooth, natural character of one of the most respected classic ribbon microphones in professional recording and broadcasting. Originally developed from a BBC design, the 4038 delivers a clear and exceptionally even response with minimal transient distortion, making it an excellent choice for drum overheads, brass, strings, guitar amplifiers, acoustic instruments, and orchestral recording.

Its low-mass damped ribbon produces a rich and detailed sound without harshness. The bidirectional figure-8 polar pattern remains substantially consistent across the microphone’s frequency range, offering predictable front and rear pickup with strong rejection from the sides. This makes the 4038 equally effective as a standalone microphone or as part of Blumlein and Mid-Side stereo configurations.

The included 4072 stand adapter provides anti-vibration isolation to reduce mechanically transmitted noise while securely mounting the microphone. Its short XLR connection lead also provides the interface required to connect the 4038 to standard professional microphone equipment.
