Built using modern CNC manufacturing and magnet technology derived from Coles’ 4040 and 4050 designs, the 4030L delivers an exceptionally even response while maintaining the natural tonal balance associated with classic ribbon microphones.

Its bidirectional figure-8 polar pattern remains substantially consistent across both the horizontal and vertical planes, providing predictable front and rear pickup with strong rejection from the sides. This makes it equally useful for individual instrument recording, room capture, and advanced stereo techniques.

The 4030L can be used independently or combined with a second microphone and the optional stereo mounting bar for Blumlein and other crossed figure-8 configurations. A red alignment dot clearly identifies the front of the microphone for accurate phase positioning.

Its lightweight aluminum body, stainless steel protective screens, and black enamel finish provide durable construction for professional studio use.
