Each 4050 features a smooth and exceptionally flat frequency response from 30Hz to 20kHz, making the pair suitable for orchestral instruments, percussion, ensembles, broadcast production, room recording, and other critical applications.

Both microphones use a bidirectional figure-8 polar pattern that remains consistent across the horizontal and vertical planes. The included magnetic shock mount securely supports both microphones while allowing each one to rotate through 360 degrees. This flexible mounting system makes it easy to create a classic Blumlein crossed figure-8 configuration or adjust the microphones to other stereo angles.

The two microphones can also be used independently as separate mono microphones. Their anti-vibration mounting system helps reduce mechanically transmitted noise, while the ribbon design delivers a smooth tonal balance with detailed transient and spatial reproduction.
