The Doepfer A-190-7 is a compact 1U monophonic MIDI-to-CV/Gate interface designed for straightforward integration of MIDI controllers, sequencers, and DAWs with an A-100 modular synthesizer. It is the 1U counterpart of the A-190-9 and provides its MIDI note conversion functionality in a horizontally arranged format.

MIDI is received through a 3.5 mm TRS input that can be internally configured for either of the two commonly used TRS MIDI wiring standards. Incoming MIDI note information is converted to a 1V/octave control voltage and gate signal for controlling analog oscillators, envelopes, and other modular functions.

Three internally connected CV outputs provide the same pitch voltage, effectively functioning as a three-way multiple. The CV range is 0 to +5V, with MIDI note 36 corresponding to 0V at the factory setting. Two linked Gate outputs provide 0/+10V gate signals, with an LED indicating gate activity.

The interface focuses specifically on MIDI note conversion and does not process velocity, pitch bend, MIDI CC, or MIDI Clock. The CV scale can be finely calibrated internally and is factory-adjusted to 1.00V/octave.

Internal connections allow the A-190-7 to interface directly with compatible modules such as the A-155-3, allowing MIDI note information from the sequencer to be converted into quantized 1V/octave CV.
