Forbidden Words Bombay Gourmand
When developing Forbidden Words – Bombay Gourmand, Sasva revisited its Forbidden Words concept through the nocturnal energy of Mumbai’s Bandra district. The fragrance is inspired by an atmosphere of decadence, desire, smoky bars, boozy desserts, and the possibilities that emerge after dark. Rather than creating a straightforward sugary gourmand, perfumer Luca Maffei builds the composition around the contrast between rich sweetness and darker oriental woods. Oud, salted caramel, and vanilla form its sensual core, while floral, fruity, earthy, and resinous facets keep the fragrance layered and sophisticated.
Olfactory Notes
Upon the first spray, Sweet Orange introduces a bright, juicy sweetness alongside the delicate floral-nutty character of Fior di Mandorla and the velvety richness of Rose. The opening suggests Indian sweets without turning immediately heavy or excessively sugary.
As the fragrance develops, its darker gourmand personality emerges. Oud meets a Salted Caramel accord, creating a striking contrast between dense woody depth and creamy sweetness. Cypriol brings an earthy, smoky dryness, while Davana contributes a fruity, aromatic warmth that gives the heart additional complexity.
Finally, Bombay Gourmand settles into a warm and enveloping base of Vanilla, Patchouli, Labdanum, and Cedarwood. Vanilla maintains the gourmand character, while patchouli and cedar add earthiness and structure. Labdanum provides a resinous amber-like depth, allowing the composition to remain sensual and woody rather than becoming a conventional dessert fragrance.
