About Us Our History & Tradition In 1946, upon returning from the war, Abe and Joe Morantz started up a Deli. This seemed to be a good plan seeing as their sister, Pearl and her husband Ben Ash had their own successful deli on Van Horne. Two years later, their brother, Phil, joined the business, and the three brothers began what is now a long lasting tradition: the Snowdon Deli.
