The Boxer (Blu-ray)

A young man from a mining town pursues greatness in the boxing ring, training under a brutal and obsessive mentor. Shuji Terayama's restless and lyrical sports film is unlike anything else in the genre — more Fellini than Rocky — suffused with the director's surreal, poetic sensibility and preoccupation with youth and transgression.
