Sullivan's Travels - The Criterion Collection (Blu-ray)

A successful Hollywood director of light comedies sets out to make a serious film about poverty — disguising himself as a tramp and travelling with a beautiful runaway (Veronica Lake) — until the journey becomes more serious than he intended. Preston Sturges's sparkling, self-reflective classic is simultaneously a perfect screwball comedy and the most moving defense of entertainment's social value ever committed to film.
