Harold and Maude (Blu-ray)

A death-obsessed young man (Bud Cort) from a wealthy family falls unexpectedly in love with a fiercely life-affirming 79-year-old woman (Ruth Gordon) who survived the Holocaust. Hal Ashby's sublime countercultural dark comedy — with a score by Cat Stevens and a warm, anarchic spirit that refuses to flinch from either death or joy — flopped on release but found an audience that has never let it go. Now recognized as one of the greatest American films of the 1970s. New Blu-ray restoration.
