Written on the Wind - The Criterion Collection (Blu-ray)

Douglas Sirk's blazing melodrama about oil-rich dysfunction in Texas: two lifelong friends, a woman between them, and a marriage built on sand. Everything Sirk believed about American society and its gorgeous, gilded lies is compressed into this lurid, exhilarating film. Robert Stack won an Oscar nomination; Dorothy Malone actually won.
